Zinedabaad is a collective I co-founded with Devashree Somani to explore the possibilities of zines as tools for radical creative expression, participatory research, and community building. What began as a single workshop in 2020 has grown into a platform that has collaborated with over 90 organisations and individuals, facilitated more than 100 workshops, talks and pop-up libraries, and brought together a multilingual archive of over 500 zines from the Global South, particularly South Asia.
We create accessible, joyful and socially engaged spaces where anyone can make, share and learn through zines. My independent research on zines and self-publishing cultures, co-created with Chetana Pai and Shruti Singh, has been published by the Digital Cultural Studies Institute, hosted by the University of North Texas Libraries (2026), and featured in ART India magazine (2025). The collective has also been recognised in numerous national and international publications, and is included in the U.S. Library of Congress's collection of Internet materials related to the Indian Political and Social Issues Web Archive.
