I, along with Devashree Somani, represented Zinedabaad on an international panel hosted by poet and zine researcher Kika Van Robays, alongside Gloria Kiconco, Harits Paramasatya, and Beau Newham.
Together, we explored zine cultures across our respective countries, from making and facilitating workshops to running zine networks and archives. The discussion centred on collaboration, pushing back against the idea of zines as solitary DIY objects, and on how they function as a form of activism, letting marginalised communities share lived experiences in accessible ways.
The panel tied into ‘Zines Forever! DIY Publishing and Disability Justice’, a display at Wellcome Collection, London, exploring how zines document disability and disabled identity.
